Accommodations

Our 33 apartments have been designed for the enjoyment and comfort of those who are looking for security and freedom. Weekly housekeeping, coin operated washers and dryers, hair salon services, and many recreational activities are available for the apartment residents at The Nebraska Masonic Home. Residents must be able to go to the dining room without assistance and reside safely in this area to enjoy the apartment accommodations.

However, if someone living in an apartment needs assistance in some of his or her daily activities, on a fee-for-service basis, an assisted living nurse will provide as much assistance as our operating criteria allows. Assisted living is the new choice of retirement community living alternatives that is affordable and encourages aging with dignity and independence.

The apartments are available in four sizes to better meet the needs of different incomes and life styles. The largest apartments are 437 square feet and the smallest is 210 square feet. Monthly charges vary according to the size of the apartment and assisted living services provided. All meals are included in the monthly fees.

Every room in all apartments is equipped with emergency call lights. Residents may be assured that, if help is needed, it is immediately available. Emergency nursing care is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Residents bring their own furniture and decorate their home according to their own individual style and taste. A secured parking lot is provided for those wishing to maintain their own car or The Home provides transportation to local appointments. Many services, which add to the comfort of the apartment, are included in the monthly fee: weekly housekeeping, three delicious meals in the dining room, cable television, monthly assessments by nursing staff, and shopping trips and all utilities with the exception of the telephone.

The Nebraska Masonic Home offers three levels of professional nursing care in the Spencer wing. Opened in March 1989, the Spencer wing has 58 beds. The medical director visits two days a week and is on call 24 hours a day. Some additional professional services available to residents are dentistry, optometry, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Restorative aides on staff promote mobility and independence in activities of daily living to all residents needing this assistance. Other professional services as required are also readily available

Under the supervision of professional pharmacists, a seven-day unit dose medication system is utilized. All the medication a resident needs each day are placed in separate color-coded containers, according to the time it is to be administered. Daily medication deliveries are available and a pharmacist is on call 24 hours a day.

For the comfort of the residents, The Home offers regular whirlpool baths. Special attention is paid to skin and foot care. Residents need not leave the comfort of The Home for routine laboratory blood tests.

Rooms are designed for semi-private occupancy in the Spencer Wing. However arrangements may be made for private rooms, at an additional cost, depending on availability. Apartment residents may request arrangements for short-term nursing care in order to recover from an illness or surgery before returning to their apartment.

The Masonic Home accommodations and services are very attractive to married couples because of the different levels of care we provide. Married couples requiring different levels of care enjoy the convenience of visitation within The Home while the personal and medical needs of each spouse are optimally met.
